BRZ™ has two methods of
holding spills. The first method is by "absorption." It will absorb up to
60% of its weight in water or other liquids. The second method is by "cation
exchange" (measured
as cation exchange capacity or "CEC"). By this method, the BRZ™ holds heavy
metals and
certain cations such as ammonium in the crystal structure where they are not
water-soluble.
It is by this method that BRZ™ is able to pass TCLP tests for certain heavy
metals.

and radioactive nuclides such as isotopes of cesium and strontium
into its crystal lattice.

Hydrophilic:
Shops, service stations,
airports, refineries, machine shops, petroleum transfer stations.
Material is spread on the floor and then swept up.
Fine particle BRZ™ can be
airdropped or pneumatically spread over marine oil spills. The
BRZ™ causes the oil to coagulate where it can be more efficiently "skimmed."
Alternatively,
the coagulated mass will sink. At this point, bacteria (that can be added to the
zeolite) will
convert the oil to a safe compound or alternatively the coagulated zeolite with
the oil maybe environmentally stable.
BRZ™ is much more effective
than clay absorbents currently being used for kitty litter, because the BRZ™ ties up the ammonium, the cause of the odor, in the crystal
structure
(the cation exchange position). The kitty litter can then be recycled to the
garden or lawn as
an ammoniated soil amendment.
A thin layer of BRZ™ is
placed in the horse stall area to absorb ammonium and de-moisturize
the manure to retard the development of fly larvae. It is then recycled as an
ammoniated soil amendment on lawns and gardens.
A thin layer of BRZ™ is
used in animal cages to deodorize and de-moisturize animal waste.
It is then recycled as an ammoniated soil amendment for plants, lawns, and
gardens.
BRZ™ can effectively remove
odor forming gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide generated by sewage
treatment plants and industrial plants.
BRZ™ removes hydrogen
sulfide from sour gas.
Heavy metals are removed by
cation exchange.
Clinoptilolite has
successfully removed and contained 137Cs and 90Sr
radioactive isotopes. It has been used to remove them from potable water, milk and dairy products, the
human body, animal feed, polluted clothes, and other items. It has also been used for
engineered barriers to prevent leakage of radioactive water, for the removal and treatment of
radioactive soils, and various other applications.
BRZ™ can be used to clean up
spills around drilling rigs, pumps, pipelines and locations in
oilfields.
For the removal of heavy
metals.
For the removal of ammonium
and gaseous odors and to prevent groundwater pollution.

SOILS, LEACH RESIDUES, BATTERY WASTE
For the removal of heavy

·
Compared to
other domestic zeolites, BRZ™ has a higher CEC that allows it to hold more heavy
metals and cations; contains low sodium, contains 3.5% potassium, and has a
clinoptilolite content of 80 to 90%.
·
BRZ™ that has
been used to clean certain organics such as feedlots can be used as a
soil amendment.
